Spring your hips in motion with Ya Habibi this Autumn! All new bellydance classes starting Saturday 2nd October in GOZO, whereas classes in MALTA resume next Monday!!

Hereunder is the final class schedule:

BEGINNER 1 (for complete beginners) – Technique only
– Every Monday @ Garden View Complex, Swieqi: 20th September till 22nd November 2010, from 7:15pm till 8:15pm.  Fee – EUR 85.00 covering 10 classes of 1 hours each
– Every Wednesday @ Garden View Complex, Swieqi: 22nd September till 24th November 2010, from 7:15pm till 8:15pm.  Fee – EUR 85.00 covering 10 classes of 1 hour each
– Every Saturday @ Bern Hersey’s Fitness Centre, Ghajnsielem – GOZO: 2nd October till 20th November 2010, from 10:00am till 11:00am.  Fee 70:00 covering 8 classes of 1 hour each

BEGINNER 1/2 (beginners with experience/refreshers) – Technique only
– Every Saturday @ Bern Hersey’s Fitness Centre, Ghajnsielem – GOZO: 2nd October till 20th November from 11:15am till 12:15pm.  Fee – EUR 70:00 covering 8 classes of 1 hour each.  Please note:  this class will be at 10:00am on the 2nd October!

BEGINNER 2 (beginners with experience) – Technique & Choreography
– Every Monday@ Garden View Complex, Swieqi: 20th September till 22nd November 2010, from 8:30pm till 9:45pm.  Fee – EUR 118.75 covering 10 classes of 1.25 hours each.

INTERMEDIATE  – Technique + Choreography
– Every Wednesday @ Garden View Complex, Swieqi: 22nd September till 24th November 2010, from 8:15pm till 8:45pm.  Fee – EUR 142.50 covering 10 classes of 1.5 hours each

Classes are based on classical / folkloric egyptian styles and are conducted by local instructor and performer trained in Egypt.  A live tabla player may occasionally accompany some classes from the B2 level up.  Students following choreography classes will get the opportunity to perform in student showcases.  Free vouchers for first the first 25 to book*.  Class size restricted, early booking recommended.  All sales are final.  Terms and Conditions apply – refer to to website for details.

Fellahi Choreography Workshop

WHAT:  Fellahi Choreography Workshop

ABOUT: The Fellahi is a folkloric Egyptian dance style originating from the countryside danced by farmers. The words Fellahi and Fellahin mean farmer and farmers, respectively.  The music is based on the fellahi rhythm (which is a light 2/2 rhythm), and always includes vocals.  The dance  itself depicts the everyday work of the farmers, such as collecting water in a jug and gathering food in a basket.  Here are some good youtube videos showcasing this dance:

WHEN: Due to circumstances beyond my control, this workshop has been postponed to May.  New date will be announced shortly.

PROPS:  No props will be used in this choreography

CREDITS:  Original choreography by Aida Nour, adapted in parts by Jane Camilleri.  Workshop is being staged by Jane Camilleri.

New Beginners Classes starting February 6th!

Learn the art of Bellydance this winter with local instructor and performer trained in Egypt!  Brand new bellydance courses for complete beginners starting THIS Saturday at Garden View Complex in Swieqi from only EUR 70.00!

This introductory 8-week programme is structures to teach the fundamental movements found in bellydance.  Students will be introduced to basic technique; including isolations, slides, circle, shimmies, figure 8’s, undulations and various hip accents.

WHEN: Every Saturday, from 5th February to 17th February, from 1:00pm till 2:00pm
